1. Who we are
BetsUganda (“BetsUganda”, “we”, “us”) operates the website at betsuganda.com — an independent guide to legal sports betting in Uganda. BetsUganda is the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
This Privacy Policy explains what information BetsUganda collects when you visit betsuganda.com, why it is collected, who it is shared with, and the rights you have. The policy is provided under Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 and, where it applies, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
For any privacy question, contact BetsUganda at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
When you email BetsUganda or use a contact form, BetsUganda receives the details you choose to send — typically your name, email address and the content of your message. BetsUganda uses this only to respond to your enquiry.
Information collected automatically
When you visit betsuganda.com, certain technical data is collected automatically through server logs, the content delivery network and analytics tools:
- IP address and approximate location (such as country or city)
- Device type, operating system and browser
- Pages viewed, time on page and referring website
- Date and time of each visit
BetsUganda does not ask for or knowingly collect sensitive financial details. BetsUganda does not process any bet, deposit or withdrawal — those happen on the licensed operator’s own platform, under the operator’s own privacy policy.
3. Cookies & tracking technologies
betsuganda.com uses cookies and similar technologies to run the site and understand how it is used.
| Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Essential | Security, caching and basic site function. The site cannot work properly without these. |
| Analytics | Measuring traffic and how pages perform, so BetsUganda can improve the guides. |
| Affiliate | If you click a partner link, the partner or its network may set a cookie to record that the referral came from BetsUganda. |
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of betsuganda.com work.
4. How we use information
BetsUganda uses the information collected to:
- operate, maintain and secure betsuganda.com;
- respond to your questions, corrections and enquiries;
- measure traffic and improve the content and speed of the guides;
- understand which guides are useful, including referrals to partner operators;
- detect, prevent and address security issues, abuse or fraud;
- comply with legal obligations.
BetsUganda does not sell your personal information.
5. Legal bases for processing (EU/UK visitors)
Where the GDPR applies, BetsUganda relies on these legal bases:
- Legitimate interests — to run a secure, working website and to measure and improve it;
- Consent — for non-essential cookies and analytics where consent is required;
- Legal obligation — where the law requires BetsUganda to keep or disclose information.
Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
6. How we share information
BetsUganda shares limited information with the service providers that make the site work. Each provider acts on BetsUganda’s instructions and under its own privacy terms:
| Provider type | Role |
|---|---|
| Content delivery & security (Cloudflare) | Delivers and protects the site; processes traffic data and IP addresses. |
| Web hosting | Stores the website and keeps server logs. |
| Analytics (Google Analytics) | Measures site usage through cookies and usage data. |
| Delivers and receives messages sent to BetsUganda. |
BetsUganda may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of BetsUganda, its users or the public.
7. International data transfers
BetsUganda serves a Ugandan audience, but its hosting and service providers operate servers outside Uganda. As a result, your information may be processed in other countries. Where information is transferred internationally, BetsUganda relies on its providers’ safeguards to keep that information protected to a standard consistent with the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 and the GDPR.
8. Affiliate & external links
betsuganda.com links to third-party websites, including licensed betting operators. BetsUganda may earn a commission when you sign up with a partner through one of these links, at no extra cost to you. Any such link is marked as a partner link.
Once you leave betsuganda.com, you are subject to the privacy policy and terms of that third-party website. BetsUganda does not control and is not responsible for how those operators collect or use your information. Read each operator’s own privacy policy before sharing personal or payment details.
9. Data retention
BetsUganda keeps personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected. Enquiry emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up. Analytics and log data are retained for a limited period, then deleted or anonymised.
10. Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- request access to the personal information BetsUganda holds about you;
- ask for inaccurate information to be corrected;
- ask for your information to be deleted;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- lodge a complaint with a data protection regulator.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].
11. Minimum age & minors
Betting in Uganda is restricted to adults aged 25 and over, and betsuganda.com is intended for that audience. The site is not directed at children, and BetsUganda does not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided personal information, contact [email protected] and BetsUganda will delete it.
12. Data security
BetsUganda protects the site with HTTPS encryption and works with reputable providers that apply their own security measures. No website can guarantee absolute security, but BetsUganda takes reasonable steps to protect the limited information it handles against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
13. Changes to this policy
BetsUganda may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When the policy changes, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page is revised. Continued use of betsuganda.com after an update means you accept the revised policy.
14. Contact & complaints
For any question or request about this Privacy Policy or your information, contact [email protected].
If you are in Uganda and believe your data has been handled unlawfully, you may complain to the Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO) under the National Information Technology Authority – Uganda (NITA-U). If you are in the EU/UK, you may complain to your local data protection authority.
